Hillary Clinton is a champion of the middle class. That’s because she knows how tough it is to earn a modest wage in an era when a simple haircut costs $600. Wait, what?
Clinton and her entourage recently took a break from trying to convince America she’s just an average gal and shut down a portion of the luxury Manhattan-based department store Bergdorf Goodman so the candidate could get a haircut.
An unnamed source told the New York Post: “Staff closed off one side of Bergdorf’s so Hillary could come in privately to get her hair done. An elevator bank was shut down so she could ride up alone, and then she was styled in a private area of the salon. Other customers didn’t get a glimpse. Hillary was later seen with a new feathered hairdo.”
The Post reported of Clinton’s visit to the posh John Barret Salon:
Clinton regularly sees salon owner John Barrett, who charges regular mortals $600 for a cut and blow-dry. Hair color can cost an extra $600.
It is not known how much, or if, Clinton paid for the haircut and her reps didn’t respond to requests for comment. But Clinton’s attachment to her hairstylists is well documented.
The 67-year-old former first lady recently joked about her hair in a speech to supporters.
“I’ve been coloring my hair for years,” she said. “So you’re not going to see me turn white in the White House.”
Assuming she got a cut and color during her recent salon visit — and that she paid for it — Clinton, the people’s candidate, forked over (or, rather, one of her assistants did) $1,200 for her new ‘do.
In case you were wondering, the national average price for a woman’s haircut in the U.S. is about $43, with color being about $50 more.
